Sylvia is the Academic Registrar at the Insurance Training College (ITC), a professional insurance training institution whose mandate is to carry out Education, Training, and professional development in the insurance sector. She has over 20 years of work experience in academic administration & management obtained while serving in the education sector. As the Academic Registrar at ITC she coordinates academic matters in the key areas of Admissions, Curriculum Design, Training, Research and Academic Ceremonies in compliance with all relevant laws, while maintaining high professional standards.
Sylvia has a strong background in higher education administration and holds a Master’s degree in Management Studies with a bias in Human Resource Management from the Uganda Management Institute, a Bachelor of Science degree from Makerere University and several trainings in higher education, quality assurance, strategic leadership and insurance. She is currently pursuing her insurance professional qualification with the College of Insurance, Nairobi.
Sylvia previously worked as the Academic Registrar at Uganda Christian University for 15 years after raising through the ranks from the time she joined in 1999. She also has 8+ years’ of teaching experience at University level in management related courses. In 2015 she joined the Insurance Institute of Uganda (IIU) as the Head of Examinations and served in that position until 1st September 2021 when she was appointed as the Academic Registrar of the Insurance Training College (ITC) of Uganda. In 2022 she was also appointed to act as the Deputy Principal, a role she holds to date.
