Ms. Edigold Monday is currently the Country Director of Sparkassenstiftung Uganda. Serving as its Managing Director, she started Crane Bank Rwanda as a greenfield commercial bank. While in Rwanda she served as a 1st Vice Chairperson of Rwanda Bankers Association (RBA). She is the former Managing Director of Bank of Africa – Uganda and served as Vice Chairman of Uganda Bankers Association (UBA) at the time. Before rising to head Bank of Africa Uganda, she was an Executive Director in the same Bank. She also worked for Global Trust Bank in the capacity of Ag. Managing Director and Executive Director and participated in its start-up. Prior to this, she was the CEO/Executive Director for CMF- a micro-finance institution that was later taken over by Global Trust Bank. Before joining CMF she served as a member on its board.
She has about 20 years of banking and financial management experience at senior managerial level. She served on the University Council for Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) and on the Board for the Economic Policy Research Centre (EPRC) in Uganda. She is currently the Board Chair for USTAWI Microfinance Limited.
She is a self-made mental health advocate and a co-founder of Free Mind Hive – a non-profit organization that envisions a mentally healthy society that is free from stigma and prejudice with a mission to promote mental health awareness and wellbeing through education, support and advocacy.
She served as the Director Finance and Administration for the Uganda Wildlife Authority for close to two years. Before this role, she was the Chief Internal Auditor for Centenary Bank where she rose through the ranks and in different departments including Branch Management and Finance Department. She has significant experience and training in bank management, audit, finance, corporate governance, human resources, risk management business and product development.
Edigold holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Herriot-Watt University – UK. She is a Chartered Certified Accountant. She received an Award of the Best National ACCA Candidate in Strategic Business Planning and Development in December 2002.
She is said to be the first Uganda female to head a commercial bank both in Uganda and Rwanda. She was decorated with a Golden Jubilee Medal by the President of the Republic of Uganda in 2015 for her contribution to the development of the nation.
